7.6.4 SUb substitute calibration
A complete initialization procedure takes
several minutes and requires the valve to
move through its entire travel range several
times. This initialization mode, however, is
an emergency mode, in which the control
parameters are estimated and not deter
-
mined by an initialization procedure. As a
result, a high level of accuracy cannot be
expected. You should always select a differ
-
ent initialization mode if the plant allows it.
The
SUb initialization mode is used to re
-
place a positioner while the process is run
-
ning. For this purpose, the control valve is
usually fixed mechanically in a certain posi
-
tion, or pneumatically by means of a pres-
sure signal which is routed to the actuator
externally. The blocking position ensures
that the plant continues to operate with this
valve position.
By entering the blocking position (Code
35),
closing direction (Code 34), pin position
(Code 4), nominal range (Code 5) and di-
rection of action (Code 7), the positioner
can calculate the positioner configuration.
NOTICE
Perform a reset before re-initializing the
positioner if the substitute positioner has al
-
ready been initialized. Refer to section 7.8.
